Giới thiệu bộ sách của DK London về

Hồi đầu tháng 05/2019, khi đi lang thang vào một nhà sách quen thuộc thì tình cờ thấy một quyển sách khổ lớn (khoảng 19 x 23cm) có tựa đề đập vào mắt với hai chữ TÔN GIÁO được thiết kế to tướng ở giữa trang bìa.

Tên đầy đủ của quyển sách là: TÔN GIÁO - Khái lược những tư tưởng lớn (The Religions Book - Big Ideas Simply Explained).

Lúc đó nghĩ bụng thư viện gia đình sau gần 30 năm sưu tập chắc cũng có khoảng trên dưới 500 quyển sách chuyên về đề tài tôn giáo các loại, trong đó nhiều nhất thuộc về Thiền học và Thần học, nên không tính mua làm gì.

Thế nhưng, khi cầm trên tay lật vài trang đầu tiên thôi cảm thấy hấp dẫn vô cùng vì sách dầy khoảng 350 trang toàn in màu với nhiều hình ảnh minh họa vừa sống động, vừa nghệ thuật, giúp độc giả dễ dàng tiếp thu, nắm bắt những tư tưởng cốt lõi của các tôn giáo lớn trên thế giới. Ngoài hình ảnh minh họa nói trên, sách còn cung cấp phần Thuật ngữ và phần Chỉ mục, giúp độc giả trau dồi thêm về các thuật ngữ tôn giáo Việt-Anh. Thế là…

Nếu bạn đang có ý định tìm hiểu về tôn giáo và/hoặc chưa có đến 100 đầu sách về đề tài này, thì có lẽ quyển sách tổng hợp nói trên sẽ giúp bạn mở toang cánh cửa bước vào thế giới minh triết. Cứ tưởng chỉ có quyển TÔN GIÁO này thôi chứ, ai dè vài ngày sau ghé thăm một nhà sách khác thì lại thấy lòi ra thêm đầu sách kiểu này nhưng với đề tài khác. Đến đầu tháng 06/2019, chúng tôi đành phải rước về nhà tất cả bốn quyển như sau:

Về bản gốc tiếng Anh, bốn quyển sách nói trên do Nhà xuất bản DK (London) thuộc Penguin Random House thực hiện. Để làm ra các quyển sách tổng hợp có giá trị này, DK mời khoảng một chục tác giả, soạn giả có uy tín về các chủ đề đó.

Bản quyền dịch tiếng Việt do Công ty Cổ phần Văn hóa Đông A nắm giữ và bốn quyển sách dịch đó đã phát hành rộng rãi trong năm 2019 (NXB Dân Trí). Bộ sách nói trên làm chúng tôi nhớ đến những quyển sách nhập môn với nhiều đề tài đa dạng, khác nhau do NXB Trẻ phát hành cách đây hơn một thập niên (xem hình).

Thật tình chúng tôi cũng muốn tóm tắt nội dung chính của từng quyển sách. Do quỹ thời gian hạn hẹp, mời mọi người tham khảo phần giới thiệu bằng tiếng Anh của DK London như dưới đây.
